Feeling Stuck? Why Resistance Means You’re Actually Winning
If you’ve ever sat down to do something important—make a call, write a post, follow up with a client—and suddenly felt that weight… that hesitation… that voice telling you “maybe later”… you’re not alone.
At First Call Realty, our book club just wrapped up The War of Art by Steven Pressfield, and one idea hit home harder than anything else:
Resistance isn’t a stop sign. It’s a signal.
And not a bad one.
You’re Not Stuck—You’re in the Process
We tend to think that when things feel hard, something must be wrong.
But what if that feeling… that friction… is actually proof you’re doing something right?
Think about it:
If you weren’t pushing yourself, there’d be no resistance
If you weren’t growing, there’d be no discomfort
If you weren’t taking action, there’d be no problems to solve
So when problems show up, it doesn’t mean you’re off track.
It means you’re in motion.
And that’s where most people quit.
Problems = Progress
This is where the mindset shift happens.
Instead of saying:
“Why is this happening to me?”
Start asking:
“What does this mean about where I’m headed?”
Because the truth is, the more you step into growth—whether it’s in real estate, business, or life—the more challenges you’ll face.
Not less.
More.
And that’s actually a good thing.
No problems = no progress.
It’s Not Personal!
This might be the most freeing part of all.
That resistance you feel?
The doubt?
The frustration?
It’s not unique to you.
Every single person doing something meaningful feels it.
So if everyone experiences resistance…
Then it’s not personal.
It’s just part of the process.
And once you stop taking it personally, you stop letting it control you.
If You’re Feeling It Right Now…
If you’re in a season where it feels like all you’re facing is problems, resistance, and roadblocks…
Good.
Not because it’s fun—but because it means something is happening.
It means you’re not standing still.
It means you’re pushing into something bigger.
And most importantly…
It means you’re on the right path.
Final Thought...
The goal isn’t to eliminate resistance.
The goal is to recognize it for what it is:
A sign that you’re doing the work that actually matters.
So the next time you feel it…
Don’t back off.
Lean in.
Because on the other side of that resistance is the version of you you’ve been working toward all along.
A Reminder to feed your fire,
Lyle
